GIDA Launches Voice of Diaspora Campaign Across Four Countries

In a landmark move for diaspora civic engagement, GIDA has officially launched the Sauti ya Diaspora voter registration drive across Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa — reaching over 2,500 eligible voters in its first phase.

Diaspora community members united in civic engagement

The Global Institute for Diaspora Affairs (GIDA) has officially launched the Voice of Diaspora campaign — Sauti ya Diaspora — a multi-country voter registration drive designed to strengthen diaspora civic participation ahead of upcoming elections.

The first phase of the campaign spans Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, with outreach, registration support, and civic education delivered through diaspora networks, community partners, and digital platforms. In its opening phase, the initiative has already reached more than 2,500 eligible voters.

“Diaspora voices must be heard where policy is made and where ballots are cast,” said Mr. Danson Mukile, Executive Director of GIDA. “Sauti ya Diaspora is about turning engagement into measurable democratic participation — registration, education, and sustained civic leadership.”

GIDA will expand the campaign through additional country partnerships, youth mobilization, and collaboration with diaspora organizations aligned with its civic engagement and policy advocacy mission.
